As George Bailey would say - HOT DOG! I've been in love with turning these 100 year old beautiful lighters back into their former glory for a decade now and I'm proud to offer this beauty for sale. This Midland is nearly identical to the one seen in the Christmas classic, It's A Wonderful Life. You may even want to wish for $1,000,000 on it!!
For your consideration, I have a FULLY FUNCTIONAL 1910 - 1920 Midland Jump Spark Cigar Lighter with a beautiful mahogany case.
You cannot just find a Midland at your local antique shop. The genuine article is right here and it's working!
This Midland has been polished on the outside and has much of the original nickel finish in tact and tons of character on the gorgeous RARE tiger oak case. Made in Davenport Iowa and distributed nationwide, this Midland will not disappoint. This Midland lighter has the beautiful graphical nameplate, original spark coil and best of yet, it produces a great spark and flame! Yes, unlike 99% of Midland's you'll see anywhere else, THIS MIDLAND IS WORKING!!!
The lighter comes completely as seen being entirely worked through mechanically. It includes the cleaned and working rare original spark coil, having been cleaned and calibrated, produces a smooth buzz and spark, and original ceramic insulator. These lighters originally had asbestos wicks that became clogged with the use of their original fuel (gasoline). I have completely replaced the original wick to ensure a clean and efficient fuel draw that produces a fantastic flame - check out the pictures of the huge flame and sparks!!!

Also included are replica period No. 6, 1.5 volt batteries, 3 in total that are wired in series which deliver a perfect factory specified 4.5 volts to the spark coil. These batteries conveniently open to allow you to refill them with modern D-Cell batteries. I'll even leave the D-Cells in the batteries for you. As you open the case, what you see is as close as you can get to what it would have looked like in the early part of the 20th century with modern convenience of refillable batteries. This Midland is ready to be not only be the center conversation piece of your room, but reliably light up your favorite cigar. Did I mention, IT WORKS?!?!?! The Midland is of course an antique at approximately 100 years old. It has plenty of imperfections that add to its story. It has imperfections, but that's what gives it a wonderful character and a true conversation piece. It comes as is, with no returns accepted.

How about just bring a time machine back to your house to hear a pleasant purr, see the sparks jump to the rim, and light up your favorite cigar on the nearly 4" flame? Look no further. These are rare, even rarer that they WORK!
As you can see from the pictures, there's a mess of wires in the box and it's full of batteries and spark coil - you'll need to be careful when refilling it batteries. Additionally, I do not ship the lighter with any fuel in it. You'll need to get a hold of some lighter fluid. I recommend a premium Zippo fluid as to not clog the wick. The lighter will be ready to go right out of the box with one wire removed for safe travel that you’ll need to reconnect. It is possible however that during shipping the jiggle of the box may knock the spark coil out of calibration - easy fix with the tightening of a nut / screw on the coil that I'll be happy to assist with.
