Wartime Coronet Rocky manufactured lighter that was factory engraved SPECIAL FORCES GROUP, 1 st
SPECIAL FORCES VIETNAM with an enameled SF crest affixed. The lid was locally engraved SFC ROBERT H. SIMMONS, 31 st
ENGR DET, 11 FEB 68 – FEB 69, On the reverse of the lighter is a map of Vietnam. The lighter is in unused condition but the hinge is offset as can be seen in the pictures. The piece will come with a reprinted picture of the veteran during his tour in Vietnam. The item is also featured on the website specialforceshistory as artifact number L-038. Robert “Too Tall” Simmons served two tours in South East Asia. His first tour was in 1962 with the 7 th Special Forces Group (ABN), Field Training Team #1 (FTT#1) assigned to Project White Star. He returned to SEA in 1968 with 5 th Special Forces Group (ABN), Vietnam, D - Company as a Construction Engineer.
