I have owned two of these one had a patent date of 1858 embossed in the base. This one is earlier having only "PAT.APPLIED.FOR" embossed in the base. If you look at the form it is reminiscence of an Early American Pattern Glass goblet/glass. On each side are two holders for matches. Note these would NOT of had dips like the Victorian ones of the 1880's and 90's. I have extra cigar shades so buyer can have his/her choice of either dark red, white, or cobalt blue which is pictured on the lighter. Measurements:
6 1/4" tall excluding shade/burner by 4 3/4" wide to outside of match holders Condition:
lighter excellent, shades may have flea bites/chips on holes because they are always ground
